    The Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Instructor of Practice, Assistant Professor of Practice, Associate Professor of Practice, or Professor of Practice. Appointment at the Instructor of Practice, Assistant Professor of Practice, Associate Professor of Practice, or Professor of Practice rank is dependent on qualifications relative to University and College standards. Practice Track faculty are initially appointed on a contract up to five years in length which is renewable based on performance. Practice Track faculty are eligible to apply for promotion to higher practice track ranks.

    The MHA program is housed in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). The MHA curriculum is a 100% online accelerated program (OAP) that prepares graduates for administrative roles in healthcare settings. Successful candidates will be expected to relocate to Southeastern North Carolina or the Wilmington area and maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences faculty.  

    The roles and responsibilities of the successful candidate will reflect a strong commitment to professional practice, community, regional engagement and impact activities, and applied scholarship related to professional practice.  

    All candidates are required to be experienced and highly competent in teaching online courses.  

    Appointments begin in August 2022. 

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    For the rank of Instructor of Practice

    • A master's degree and exceptional professional experience. Master's degree must be in Healthcare Administration/Management, or Business Administration/Management (with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program.

    For the ranks of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor or Professor of Practice 

    • Doctoral degree or a master's degree, exceptional professional experiences, and exceptional circumstances. 
    • An earned doctoral degree must be in Healthcare Administration/Management, or Business Administration/Management (with a master's degree and/or at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Healthcare Administration/Management), Health Services Management, or a related field from a regionally accredited program.  
    • Evidence of successful online teaching experience. 

    Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

    • Evidence of successful online teaching experience in an accelerated program. 
    • Two or more years experience in the Healthcare field. 
    • Relevant licenses/certifications in the Healthcare field. 
    • Active membership in professional societies (i.e., AUPHA, ACHE). 
    • Exceptional accomplishments in healthcare practice associated with the position and recognized accomplishment in teaching and the scholarship of teaching associated with the position. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituents across the College and University.  
    • Experience with CAHME accreditation standards and competency-based education. 
    • Commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
