    Hi everyone,

    Although the Caucus intended for our Group's meeting was cancelled, I have some very good news. Yesterday I met with Marko Vukosavovic, and AOM will help organize our Group's meeting within the framework of the "CAP" (Community Accelerator Program).

    This means that we are guaranteed a room and sufficient time. Additionally, I asked the program team to schedule, if possible, our meeting as closely as possible to one or both PDWs on sport-related topics:

    • "A Historical Perspective on Publishing in Sport Management's Top Journals: Outlets and Expectations," by Chad Siefried;
    • "Using Sport Data to Advance Management Theory," by Paolo Aversa and Tom Moliterno.

    Moreover, Marko supported the idea, to organize a small social event that same afternoon/evening. I would like to sincerely thank Marko, Brianna, and the rest of the AOM team for their continuous support. As soon as the meeting time and location are confirmed, I will let you know. I have also decided that I will travel to Philadelphia, and I hope that as many of us as possible will be able to attend.

    In short, the meeting will take place – with the agenda as originally planned for the Caucus. This means that, in line with our agreement at the time of the Group's establishment (see the earlier documents posted on this platform), we could use this opportunity to set stronger organizational foundations for our future activities. This includes appointing two co-chairs of the Group. As we initially agreed, one could be selected among the management researchers using sports data, and one from sport management – thus representing the two "fields" we aim to connect. Of course, any other solution to appoint the Group's chair(s) is also possible. My personal view is that chair(s) should ideally be established and respected scholars (and fortunately our Group already includes several such colleagues) who would also be willing to take a proactive role, particularly in supporting the Group's expansion and development.

    In addition, we could appoint an Executive Manager-type role to help coordinate the group organizationally. This is not the only purpose of our meeting in Philadelphia, but it is one of the important steps, so I kindly ask you to consider possible nominations. It would be really good to have some nominations at least by the end of June.

    As mentioned, I will follow up with more details about the organization of this event once the time and venue are confirmed.

    I wish you a pleasant remainder of the week.

    Best regards,
    Tomaž

    Great initiative - thank you so much, Tomaž, for organizing. I (and my colleague Thorsten Koch) will certainly be there. Also, I am happy to share that our panel symposium "Playing in separate leagues? Rethinking the role of sport in organizational research" has been accepted (with Colleen Stuart, Fabio Fonti, Marvin Washington and Suvi Heikkinen as panelists, myself and Thorsten as organizers). I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the symposium (and our community meeting). Best wishes,

    Roman
