    The Department of Management Information Systems in the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2023.  This position is part of a multi-year Presidential Hiring Initiative across the university which will hire 50 new faculty to develop our research focus on AI and Data Science. (https://provost.uga.edu/data_science_ai/).  This is in addition to the other Assistant/Associate tenure-track position(s) in Information Systems we have just posted. 

    Qualified applicants' research agenda should include topics related to ethics and Human-AI interactions, AI interfaces, or the future of work (including labor markets and broader economic impacts).  The position is part of an inter-disciplinary cluster hiring initiative on social, philosophical, and ethical issues related to data science and AI.
    Qualified applicants must also hold a Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related discipline from an AACSB accredited institution or international equivalent. They must also have a demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of scholarly research, as evidenced by copies of published articles or submitted manuscripts to top-tier Information Systems journals, and working papers targeted for publication in top-tier IS journals. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching is also desirable.

This position is part of a multi-year Presidential Hiring Initiative across the university which will hire 50 new faculty to develop our research focus on AI and Data Science.     Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related discipline from an AACSB accredited institution or international equivalent.     The position is part of an inter-disciplinary cluster hiring initiative on social, philosophical, and ethical issues related to data science and AI. The cluster consists of faculty in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM. The new hire will work collaboratively with MIS faculty who have related interests, with other faculty hired for the cluster, and with existing faculty in other departments and colleges to enhance UGA's reputation around ethical AI and towards grants (e.g., NSF) in this space.     The Management Information Systems Department is consistently ranked very highly nationally and internationally for both its programs and its scholarly productivity. Faculty hold editorial positions at the premier information systems journals, and current and emeritus faculty include multiple AIS Fellows, AIS Leo Award winners, and an INFORMS Information Systems Society Fellow. The department is quite diverse in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, research traditions, topics of interest, and research approach, and includes 14 full-time tenure-track faculty and six full-time lecturers and senior lecturers.  

    The Management Information Systems Department offers the following degrees: Ph.D., an online Master of Business & Technology, a BBA in MIS that includes areas of emphasis in data analytics and information security management, and a FinTech certificate. In addition, the Terry College of Business offers an on-campus MBA degree, an on-campus Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree, and off-campus Executive/Professional MBA degrees (in Atlanta).
