AOM Annual Meeting – Montreal
--------------------------------------------------------
Dear Academy Member,
Thank you very much for participating in our all academy survey regarding the use of technology in management research. We have had a great response and are enjoying the analysis.
However there is still time for you to complete the survey if you have not yet been able to. It takes between 10-20 minutes and is producing some very interesting findings. Also note that technology can be as new as hormone monitors and as old as the telephone. We invite and encourage everyone to participate.

Our PDW on "Borderless Innovation" brings together scholars from diverse disciplines and perspectives to focus on innovation in a world of increasing global integration. We highlight key issues such as new models of innovation and commercialization of technologies, mechanisms for linking industrialized and developing economies via participation in innovation, and innovation as a mechanism for social and economic development. The PDW panelists' presentations will incorporate Q&A and dialogue with participants.
Topics will be related to the following areas: (1) perspectives on 'borderless innovation"; (2) linking industrialized and developing economies; and (3) the impact of borderless innovation on firms, nations, and regions.
The panel includes David Audretsch who has pioneered research on entrepreneurship and regional innovation. His latest book is Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Economic Growth. Ram Mudambi has published extensively on technology and innovation management and geography of innovation in leading journals such as Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Economic Geography, Research Policy and the Journal of Applied Statistics, among others.
He is a Senior Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and also serves on the editorial boards of several other journals.

We are excited to announce that the 2010 New Doctoral Student Consortium (NDSC) will be held this August at the Academy of Management (AoM) annual conference in the historic city of Montreal, Quebec.
The NDSC is an invaluable resource to new Ph.D. students pursuing a degree in a management-related field. Through an intensive one-day series of presentations, workshops, and networking events, the NDSC helps ease the transition for new students by sharing valuable information on the AoM annual conference experience, life as a doctoral student, and the general pursuit of a career in academia.
The NDSC provides participants a unique opportunity to interact with AoM division chairs and senior doctoral students, learn inside information on publishing, meet future collaborators and coauthors, make new friends, and engage in active discussions related to students? academic goals. In just one day, doctoral students have the chance to be part of an extensive academic social network while learning and experiencing the potentials of becoming a management scholar!
The 2010 NDSC will be held on Saturday, August 7th, from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Other events associated with the NDSC include a Friday evening social at the Irish Embassy, starting at 6:30pm, and a Saturday evening reception after Consortium.
For more information, including registration details, please visit our website at http://group.aomonline.org/ndsc and join our Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=124705204222282&ref=ts.

The Research Grant Awards
PDMA will grant up to 2 awards of up to $ 5,000 each to winning proposals. Research teams will receive $ 4,000 upon award announcement. The final $ 1000 will be paid upon submission of a manuscript to the Journal of Product Innovation Management for publication consideration. Submission funding expires 3 years after notification of project funding. Both awards will provide researchers with access to the PDMA membership list for survey purposes. Those who use the PDMA membership list are required to provide a summary report of findings to PDMA respondents within 9 months of fielding the survey. Recipients of PDMA grants may be asked to present the results of their research at PDMA's International Conference, with conference and travel expenses to be paid by PDMA.
The Inaugural David L. Wilemon Research Award
Syracuse University has established with the PDMA the David L. Wilemon Research Award. David L. Wilemon is a founder of the PDMA, served as one of its first presidents, acted as an inaugural member of the Journal of Product Innovation Management Editorial Board, and has been a thought leader in innovation and new product development through his significant service, research, and teaching. A working paper or progress report should be received by the VP of Academic Affairs (Cheryl Nakata, cnakat1@uic.edu) for PDMA within 12 months of receipt of the research grant. This working paper or progress report will be made available to PDMA members. All articles resulting from this research must acknowledge PDMA support.
