Call for Submissions

Dear academic and practitioner professionals:
The present financial and economic crises create visions of what's ahead coupled with high levels of uncertainty and ambiguity demanding and creative solutions to the national and global problems leaders and managers are confronted with.
The AoM/IAoM developed a conceptual framework known as M.E.L.T.
(Management, Education, Leadership, Technology) to frame issues and generate research questions related to the current crises that are of interest to management scholars and practitioners. Given the current socioeconomic climate and uncertainty, the AoM/IAoM believes that academics and practitioners are uniquely positioned to represent their concerns and issues.
We therefore specifically invite interested parties to present their assessments of the current situation, critiques of outdated management, leadership, and educational theories, propose new paradigms or best practices given the current socio-economic climate at the annual conference of the Association of Management and International Association of Management (AoM/IAoM), August 06-08, 2009, Bloomington, MN.
Visit us at www.aom-iaom.org for conference details and submission procedures.

The 43rd Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences is again hosting a mini-track on emerging risks and systemic concerns in information security research. Our goal is to bring together research that joins technical, managerial, forensics, regulation, law enforcement, and social engineering perspectives to combat a difficult and growing problem. Now in its fourth year, this mini-track attracts scholars from a wide set of disciplines to build theory, exchange insights, and improve research techniques in this challenging field.
We invite you to submit a paper on completed or in-process research that describes how organizations may detect, prevent, mitigate or recover from the effects of such attacks. Papers that address improving the security, reliability or survivability of computer-reliant organizations from these threats through technical or behavioral change are encouraged. Applications of simulation studies, case-based research, and other quantitative and qualitative methods are welcome.
The submission date for the conference is June 15th, 2009. Instructions for submission and the full conference program are available at http://www.hicss.hawaii.edu. Feel free to contact any of us to discuss the mini-track and your possible contribution as an author or as a reviewer.

Dear Colleagues,
You are cordially invited to attend the 2009 meeting of the Eastern Academy of Management at the Hartford Hilton, Hartford, CT from May 13 to May 16, 2009.
We have an exciting theme, Facing the Future with Heart and Mind that includes emotional, value-based, critical studies and traditional cognitive research, exercises and cases. Broad interest in theme related topics sets the stage for an engaging conference with participation from corporations and practitioners to complement our EAM scholars.
In addition to traditional academic sessions, this year's conference features distinguished panels, professional developmental workshops, and three open-enrollment Consortia focused on career issues of doctoral students, junior faculty, and mid-career/senior faculty. Information about the Consortia can be found at https://eamconference.org/EAM2009Consortia.pdf. An onsite visit to a local insurance firm, Traveler's Inc., is planned. Email Dave Fearon
(fearon@ccsu.edu) if you wish to attend this event on Thursday evening. We are putting the final touches on our program schedule, and will have it available on the conference website in the coming weeks.
HOTEL ROOMS
The EAM has negotiated a discounted room rate for meeting attendees. The deadline to book your room at this discounted rate is 13 April 2009, but our allocated guest room block is limited, so we strongly recommend that you book your hotel room as soon as possible. A local college is holding an event that weekend, creating more competition for rooms. Information on hotel bookings can be found at https://eamconference.org/hotel/
MEETING REGISTRATION
Online registration for the meeting is now open. For registration information, please go to https://eamconference.org/reg.asp
I hope you chose to join us for this exciting meeting, and I look forward to seeing you in Hartford!
Sincerely,
Dilip Mirchandani - EAM President
and
John Ogilvie - EAM 2009 Vice President of Program

HICSS-43 Call for papers for the minitrack on:
"CREATIVITY IN TEAMS AND ORGANIZATIONS"
Part of the Collaboration Systems and Technology Track
of the Forty-Third Annual
Hawai'i International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS)
Kauai, HI - January 5 - 8, 2010
Papers are invited for the minitrack on "CREATIVITY IN TEAMS AND ORGANIZATIONS" as part of the Collaboration Systems and Technology Track at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS).
Innovation is a critical force in organizational performance and survival. Changes in technology, globalization, and increased competition have all created an environment in which creativity and innovation are needed in order to cope with situational and economic pressures and frequent changes. Designers and Developers of organizational systems must therefore innovate almost continuously to keep the organization aligned with such changes. Creativity is a critical pre-condition for innovation. Generating novel and creative ideas are the key to innovation and growth in every organization today. Providing employees, customers and partners with tools to think creatively has been proven to increase innovation in organizations. Research shows that organizations which have established skill-bases and tools for creativity outperform the competition in terms of revenue, rolling out new products, innovation and growth. Though organizations deploy groups for most creative processes, there has been little research in the area of group creativity. Most creative research is focused on individual factors affecting creativity. Many challenges that arise from pursuing creativity in teams remain unexplored.
This minitrack provides one of the key international platforms on which the following issues can be discussed:
1. Methods & techniques to improve creativity in co-located and distributed groups
2. Design and Evaluation of Systems and technology for enhancing creativity
3. Challenges and opportunities for creativity in teams
4. Theoretical foundations for creativity at individual, group and organizational levels
5. Practical approaches to foster creativity at individual, group and organizational levels
6. The creation and implementation of innovations in teams and organizations
7. Factors affecting creativity in teams and organizations
8. Building team-based organizations
9. Multi-level issues of creativity in teams and organizations
10. Research linking individual creativity to group level creativity and organizational level innovation
11. Multi-disciplinary approaches to creativity
12. Creative collaboration between business partners and customers (e.g. co-creation of products and services)
Thus, papers are welcome that contain original ideas on how to improve creativity and innovation through all phases of problem-solving: Understanding a problem, devising potential solutions, evaluating alternatives, making choices, making plans, taking action, and after-action review. We seek papers that suggest methodical, technical, theoretical, or practical improvements for realizing creative ideas in the workforce as innovations, for an organization cannot benefit from its creativity until its ideas are implemented.
There are no preferred methodological stances for this minitrack: this minitrack is open to both qualitative and quantitative research, to research from a positivist, interpretivist, or critical perspective, to studies from the lab, from the field, design-oriented or developmental in nature.
Themes and topics of relevance to this minitrack include, but are not limited to (related topics not listed are especially welcome):
Creativity techniques and approaches
· Creativity methods & techniques to improve creativity in co-located and distributed groups
· Measuring the effectiveness of creativity techniques and approaches
· Creativity in patterns of collaboration (divergence, convergence, organization, evaluation, and consensus building)
· Reusability, trainability, predictability, and transferability of creativity techniques and approaches
· Capturing best practices on creativity
· Analyzing the nature of the evolving artifacts

· Theories, guidelines, and strategies for designing creative technologies and systems
· Proof of concepts – examples of breakthrough technologies and systems supporting creativity
· Technologies that support creativity in specific critical collaboration processes, e.g.
· Requirements specification & analysis

· Delphi processes

· Strategy building
· Collaborative writing
