2018 Warwick Summer School on Practice-Based Studies

Practice & Process Studies: Data, Methods and Approaches

    16-19 July 2018

    University of Warwick, Coventry, UK

    Dear Colleague,

Following on from our highly successful Summer Schools in 2013, 2014, 2015, and Advanced Workshop in 2017, we are pleased to announce the 2018 Warwick Summer School on Practice-Based Studies. This edition will explore the distinctive methodological features of practice and process research

The school takes place from Monday 16 July to Thursday 19 July on the University of Warwick campus, Coventry, UK. Working in collaboration with the International Symposium Series on Process Organization Studies (PROS) and the Warwick's Practice, Process, and Institutions (PPI) Research Programme, the event is envisioned as an international forum for the development and advancement of practice-based and process research in organization, management, administrative and policy studies.

The goal of this year's edition is to explore the distinctive methodological features of practice and process research as well as their similitudes and differences. The school is aimed at individuals who already have familiarity with these approaches and are interested in examining how they might be meaningfully developed going forward. We welcome in particular younger scholars, including advanced PhDs, early career researchers, and junior faculty.

Confirmed keynote speakers for this year's Workshop are Ann Langley (Professor of Management, HEC Montréal), Elizabeth Shove (Professor of Sociology, Lancaster University) and Jorgen Sandberg (Professor of Management, University of Queensland). In attendance and contributing to interactive sessions will be members and friends of the WBS Practice, Process and Institutions (PPI) Programme. The School is directed by Pedro Monteiro, with Davide Nicolini and Hari Tsoukas as co-founders and scientific leads.

Applications should be submitted to ikon@wbs.ac.uk by 5 March 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 13 March 2018.

More information can be found on the attached flyer or the IKON website (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/wbs/research/ikon/events/sspbs2018/). We would be grateful if you could circulate this information among colleagues and students.

We look forward to receiving your applications.

    Best wishes,

Pedro Monteiro, Davide Nicolini, and Hari Tsoukas
