Associate professor in Workplace learning
The Department of Education offers a position as Associate Professor in
Workplace learning. The position is affiliated with one of the Faculty
of Education's prioritized research areas, 'Higher education and
workplace learning', and the successful candidate is expected to
contribute to research targeting learning in workplaces and
organizations which emphasizes knowledge development and learning in
different expert cultures.

The selected candidate is expected to have expertise in organizational
learning and knowledge development within various parts of an
increasingly knowledge-intensive working life, and is expected to
contribute substantially to the long-term development of teaching and
research within this area at the Department. In order to complement
existing expertise in the Department, documented experience from
research on organizational learning and collective knowledge development
is desired. In addition to the scientific merits, work experience from
e.g. HRM-processes or organizational development would be considered as
a strength. It is desirable that the successful candidate will
participate in one of the Faculty's research groups, such as the ExCID
group (Expert cultures and institutional dynamics: Studies in higher
education and work).
Professional duties:
Contribute to the further development of the academic field of workplace
and/or organizational learning at the Department, through research,
scientific publication activities at national and international levels,
and participation in national and international networks.
Contribute actively to the relevant research groups at the Faculty of
Education.
Participate in the planning of education, teaching, supervision and
examination work at all levels, as well as ensure the quality of the
education which one participates in or is responsible for.
Dissemination of research results directed towards both professional
parties as well as towards the general public.
Administrative tasks according to general guidelines.
Qualifications required:
The applicant must be able to document research competence in the
advertised researched field. The minimum competence requirement for
applicants to an Associate Professor position is a completed doctorate
(PhD) degree within the relevant academic field or a related field.
Basic competence in pedagogy.
Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
In the ranking of competent applicants, the whole range of
qualifications will be considered, including the applicant's ability to
communicate and personal suitability. Emphasis will also be placed on
the applicant's experience and ability to attract research funding from
external sources.
Applicants without a basic teaching qualification will have to acquire
this within two years from appointment. Those who are not fluent in a
Scandinavian language when hired must commit to learn Norwegian within
two years.

Interviews will be used in the appointment process, and applicants may
also be required to give a trial lecture.
