  • 1.  Dissertation Research Survey Request

    Posted 08-08-2016 13:25

Good morning!  My name is Michael G. McVey and I am a Doctoral Candidate at Penn State University. After speaking with Miriam Mazzarella, I received permission to request participation to conduct a survey of my doctoral research through your division. I selected the Academy of Management after interviewing tenured faculty across the country who highly recommended your association for qualified respondents.

My research topic centers on the experiences of tenured and non-tenured business faculty with online education. Of specific interest is if business faculty had an initial resistance to teaching online, did this resistance continue or did a perspective change to teaching online occur over time and why. I am also interested to learn what teaching practices business faculty may have changed for their face-to-face classroom after having taught in an online environment. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The targeted audience are business professors of higher education who have taught both face-to-face and online courses.

Thank you very much for taking time to participate in this important research. The data collected will provide useful information regarding business faculty perceptions with teaching online and how institutions of higher learning can address potential inhibitors business faculty have to the educational medium. If you are willing to participate in this study please reply to this message and I will distribute a survey to your attention.

I thank you very much for your participation in this research endeavor!

    Respectfully,

    Michael G. McVey, Doctoral Candidate
