    Entrepreneurship Division Call for Applicants

    Early Career Development Consortium Academy of Management Annual Meeting

    Atlanta, GA

    Friday, August 4, 2017

     

    Applications are currently being accepted for the 2017 AOM Entrepreneurship Early Career Consortium.

     

    The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor an Early Career Development Consortium (ECDC) during the 2017 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Atlanta, GA. This consortium is specifically designed to meet the needs of those scholars who are early in their career such as tenure-track assistant professors and ABD's. The Consortium will begin with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4 and continues until 5:00 p.m.  The consortium includes a reception Friday evening.  Admitted applicants are expected to participate in the entire day's program.

     

    Leading scholars in our field will provide practical advice to help you navigate the tenure and promotion process, manage your career, and develop a successful research stream. Specific topics include:

     

    ·      Career Strategies for Tenure & Promotion Success

     

    ·      Tips from Recently Tenured Professors

     

    ·      A Dean's Perspective

     

    ·      Tackling a Revise & Submit

     

    ·      Career Strategies for T&P Success

     

    ·      Why Entrepreneurship Research Matters

     

    ·      How to Write (after Graduate School)

     

    ·      How You Will Be Evaluated for Tenure

     

    ·      How to Teach (and Still Find Time for Research)

     

    Participating scholars include Sharon Alvarez (University of Pittsburgh), Peter Klein (Baylor University), Nicolai Foss (Bocconi University), Matt Wood (Baylor University), Rob Wuebker (University of Utah), Jeffrey McMullen (Indiana University), Jennifer Jennings (University of Alberta),  and Howard Aldrich (University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill).

     

    Finally, you will receive publishing advice from a panel of editors representing the leading journals in the field as they present their journal's mission and editorial policies. Journal editors include: Marc Grueber (AMJ), Sharon Alvarez (AMR), Tom Lumpkin (SEJ), and Jeffrey McMullen (JBV).

    The Consortium will begin on Friday, August 4, 2017 with a continental breakfast.  Lunch will also be served.  Following the consortium, there will be a joint reception with participants from the entrepreneurship doctoral consortium.

     

    Thanks to the generosity of the Entrepreneurship Division, participation in the Early Career Development Consortium, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, is free of charge for participants!

     

    This year's consortium is chaired by Sharon Alvarez (University of Pittsburgh) and Peter Klein (Baylor University).  The consortium will be limited to 30 participants and qualified applicants will be admitted on a first come basis.

     

    To apply, send the following items as email attachments to Jennifer Buchko (jbuchko@katz.pitt.edu) with "Entrepreneurship Early Career Development Consortium" in the subject line.

     

    1.     A short (3-5 sentences) biographical sketch, which we can distribute to all participants.

     

    2.     A brief statement (3-5 sentences) of your research and teaching interests.

     

    3.     A current CV

     

    Applications must be received by June 30, 2017.
