    Greetings,

The Joseph M. Bryan School of Business & Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications from around the world for an endowed chair, the Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Professor of Innovation. The chair is one of the oldest endowed chairs in the Bryan School and UNCG, and has become available through retirement. The position will commence on August 1, 2017, at the rank of professor with tenure.

Innovation is one of four pillars that are to be integrated into our undergraduate and graduate curricula within the School. We have strong coverage in the other three pillars (globalization, ethics, and sustainability), and now seek to create similarly strong coverage in innovation. We are mindful that there are many disciplines in which innovation scholars and teachers may reside within a business school. For our purposes, we are interested in candidates who are exceptional scholars and teachers in Management (e.g., Strategic Innovation, Innovation Management, Radical Innovation, etc.), Marketing and Entrepreneurship (e.g., New Product Development, New Product Marketing, Technology Marketing, etc.), and Operations/Supply Chain Management (e.g., Process Innovation).

The selected candidate shall have three primary tasks: teach three courses per year, engage in high quality research leading primarily to elite and very high quality journal publications (and secondarily scholarly books), and service, including leadership and mentoring in integrating innovation into the undergraduate and graduate curricula of the School and in the research of interested faculty members. It is important that the Bryan Professor be a collegial person who can get things done and is a strong and positive collaborator. Per UNCG policy, the Bryan Professorship is for a renewable five-year term with a separate evaluation in the fourth year conducted by the dean and provided to the Provost with a recommendation about reappointment.

Applicants must hold a PhD/DBA degree, most likely in business with a focus on Strategic Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or Operations Management. There must be strong evidence of a research thrust in innovation that has resulted in publications in elite journals. The successful applicant shall also be an outstanding teacher, and may have related business experience.  A demonstrated interest in hands-on student projects and industry partnerships shall be considered favorably.

Application screening will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. For more information or to apply, access our full announcement through the UNCG Job Search system (https://jobsearch.uncg.edu/postings/7830).  For questions, please contact search committee chair, Dr. Al Link (anlink@uncg.edu).
