    Dear TIM community,

Can you recommend any simulations or games available that are effective for an undergraduate strategic innovation course?

I am a doctoral candidate developing a new elective for our undergrads.  I am putting together the syllabus and am interested in something other than just the case discussions.  It could be on any area within innovation as I am developing the topics for the course right now.

Do you have recommendations for what you have used or what is fun for a class of this nature?

    I appreciate any thoughts,

    -Kevin

    Hi Kevin:
Suggest you check out "Corrugated Paper Products, Inc." in the Organization Theory book by Vaiga and Yanous.
I use it to differentiate between problem solving and performance orientation. The coverage emphasizes managing paradoxes in the Ambidextrous organization.
Instead of letter size paper, I give groups (pref. 5, max 6 people) 22"x30" drawing sheets - neither too thin nor too thick. This adds an extra layer of both complexity and group work, to measure and cut into 8.5"x11" sheets before making the boxes.
During discussions, I bring in Brown and Eisenhardt's "Competing on the Edge". Then, wrap up the whole thing by leading to the ULTIMATE PARADOX, using "Hope for the Flowers" by Trina Paulus.
    Regards.

    Hi Prasad,

As a member of TIM, I just read your reply to the question posed here and I think its fabulous. I get to teach some of the programs in knowledge and innovation as well!

I think it would be interesting to further research interests in this domain!!

Look forward to hearing from you!
