CALL FOR PAPERS
Forty-Forth Annual Hawai'i International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-44)
January 4 - 7, 2011 (Tuesday-Friday)
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa on Kauai (http://kauai.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
Track: Knowledge Systems
Minitrack: Knowledge and Innovation Systems
Following decades of work on first-generation tools for employing knowledge in organizations, a fundamental transformation has been taking place, where the inflows and outflows of knowledge have expanded to accelerate internal innovation and expand the markets for external use of innovation. Organizing for innovation in an open environment with multiple participants (i.e., customers, suppliers, partner firms, and developers) in communities or markets, presents challenges for accessing and applying distributed knowledge. New methods build upon emerging innovation platforms (e.g., InnoCentive) and mobile technologies. However, to manage knowledge effectively and improve innovation outcomes, organizations need to engage a broader base of outside knowledge holders. This raises important new issues about how knowledge is created and applied to derive business value, generate new ideas, and develop new products and solutions.
In line with this challenging research issue, the objective of this mini track is to draw appropriate papers on the broadest range of research methodologies including case studies, action research, experimentation, survey, and simulation.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
* Knowledge co-creation in communities, markets and open platforms.
* Ideas lifecycle management (generation, selection and diffusion) techniques
* Knowledge and action: how knowledge is developed, transformed, interpreted and used to facilitate innovation
* Approaches to enable grass-roots intra- and entrepreneurism
* Innovation in New Product Development: the generation, evaluation and implementation of new products, services, processes and solutions
* Knowledge generation and management in virtual worlds
* Platforms for collaborative and creative work, e.g., design, research and development, exploration, customer support
* Knowledge sharing, diffusion and creativity, as influenced by different organization cultures and structures
* Facilitating serendipity in innovation processes
* Mechanisms associated with KM and innovation
* The use of KM to reduce risk in creative/innovative processes

E-Agenda 2020 - Where Do We Go from Here? Uncovering Future E-Business Opportunities for Entrepreneurs and Innovators
Guest Editors
Prof. Dr. Tobias Kollmann
Dr. Andreas Kuckertz
Introduction
In many industries electronic business has dramatically altered the way companies are operated and numerous established business models on the web have successfully changed consumer behavior and consumers' everyday life. Countless entrepreneurs and innovators have contributed to this development and we have seen the web transform to a medium that became increasingly interactive with each step of its development. Within every phase of this development, new opportunities independent of a physical value chain arose for entrepreneurs to create added value through web-based platforms. Against the background of the ongoing and rapid progress of network technologies, this Special Issue collects research that provides rigorous answers to the question how entrepreneurial opportunities for electronic business will be affected by technological innovation in the medium to long term. By doing so it aims to set the agenda for both practitioners and researchers (E-Agenda 2020) who are interested in the interface of electronic business, entrepreneurship, and innovation management.
Objective of the Special Issue
This Special Issue of IJEEI aims at providing a forum for the discussion of the future impact of electronic business on entrepreneurial and innovative phenomena. We invite papers with different theoretical concepts and methods in order to assemble a rich, vibrant and multi-faceted special issue of IJEEI bringing together diverse perspectives. We particularly welcome quantitative and qualitative research designs that will help to shed light on potential technological and managerial developments (e.g., Delphi surveys), case research on market participants and organisations that are most likely to significantly shape the future electronic business environment, and thorough literature reviews that highlight emerging thoughts and help to set the research agenda for the years to come.
Recommended Topics
All papers included in this Special Issue should explore a subtopic of electronic business that is relevant with respect to entrepreneurship and innovation. Suggested topics to be discussed in this Special Issue include (but are not limited to) the following:
# Future and relevance of semantic technologies with respect to electronic business (intelligent web) # Future of identity - avatars, alternate identities and the web # Future of social networks, social media marketing, social gaming, and social commerce # Future potential of mobile business models (location based services, location based gaming, mobile communities, etc.) # Future potential of software agents for e-commerce and information retrieval # Trends in digital convergence # Trends in web security and privacy # Upcoming developments in artificial intelligence that will result in opportunities for new electronic business models # Upcoming developments in viral marketing and viral application design
Submission
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this Special Issue on or before 30 June 2010. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL'S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at http://www.igi-global.com/development/author_info/guide.asp prior to submission. All submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference citations.
All submissions and inquiries should be directed to the attention of:

Hello everyone,
I am creating a follow-up book to Online Interviews in Real Time called Cases in Online Interview Research. It will be published by Sage Publications.
Cases in Online Interview Research will advance the theoretical and conceptual foundations of online interview research. This edited volume and include a very selective collection of cases from researchers who have conducted structured to unstructured online interviews using a variety of qualitative methodologies and mixed methods approaches with data collection from text-based, multi-channel meeting, videoconference and immersive technologies. Contributors will be asked to construct the chapter in the manner of a case study, in order to maximize its instructional potential. Six to eight cases will be included in the book.
Each case will be followed by a critique from the editor, analyzing and explaining the researcher's study in the context of the principles and models drawn from the editor's work. Additionally, each contributor will be invited to provide a thoughtful peer discussion of another's chapter. Thus each case will be followed by at least two different critiques. A final chapter will aim to pull together common themes and issues.
Cases in Online Interview Research will offer significant, multi-disciplinary insight into emerging e-research approaches. The structure of the book will model critical thinking and review in an effort to stimulate further discussion.
Proposal Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners interested in participating as a contributor are invited to submit a 1 to 2 page manuscript proposal clearly explaining the intention and online interview methods of the proposed case. Research from any discipline, or interdisciplinary research, is welcome -social and behavioral sciences, business and organizational studies, education, arts and creative disciplines, science and environmental studies. Please submit a Word or PDF document to jsalmons@vision2lead.com by June 15.
Upon acceptance of your proposal, you will have until October 1, 2010 to prepare your chapter of 4,000-5,000 words. Guidelines for preparing your paper and terms and definitions will be sent to you upon acceptance of your proposal. Authors of accepted chapters will then have a further opportunity to refine their work, based upon the comments of reviewers and the editor. Contributing authors will be asked to offer a critique of another case for the book. The critiques will be due December 1.
Each contributing author (or team of authors) will receive a book credit of $250. from Sage Publications and one copy of the finished book.
Timeline
Proposals due: June 15.
Invitations to contribute: July 15
Chapter cases due: October 1
Peer review/critiques due: December 1
The call for chapters is online at: http://www.vision2lead.com/Call4Cases.pdf so feel free to post or share with other online researchers.
