Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SEI) Faculty Workshop 2015

Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics - May 15, 2015

    Call for papers

The Fourth Annual European Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SEI) Faculty Workshop will be held on May 15, 2015 at Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics. The workshop builds upon the success of previous SEI faculty workshops and aims to provide a forum for discussion to researchers interested in preparing their papers for submission to top journals. The SEI Executive Committee cordially invites you to submit a paper for discussion to this workshop.

The European SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty from various leading European business schools and universities, including HEC Paris, Bocconi University, Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College Business School, London Business School and ETH Zürich. Previous SEI events have been held at HEC Paris, ETH Zürich, Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College Business School, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Bocconi University and SKEMA Business School.

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together top scholars from European institutions, which are doing research in the areas of strategy, entrepreneurship or innovation, and to provide a context to present ongoing work and gather feedback from leading scholars in the field, sitting in the Editorial Boards of top management journals such as Management Science, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Research Policy and Industrial and Corporate Change, among others. Several papers presented in the past workshops have in fact been published on those outlets.

Ample opportunities for informal discussion and networking will be provided outside the formal presentations, including coffee breaks, meals, and a pre-workshop group dinner on May 14.

    Consortium/Paper Format

We are looking for six/eight papers of great potential. Each paper will have about 45 minutes for presentation and discussion. All participants (max 15-20 people, including the speakers) are expected to read papers and contribute to the discussion.

The submitted papers should contribute to one or more of the following broad areas - strategy, entrepreneurship or innovation. It is a developmental workshop that aims to bring your study ready for submission at top journals. Accordingly, submitted papers must not be under review, accepted, or forthcoming.  Preference will also be given to papers by junior faculty and to papers that are nearly ready to be submitted to a journal.

Last date for submission of papers (around 8,000 words) is February 28, 2015.

Please submit your paper with names and affiliations on the first page, separate from the paper itself. Submissions should be sent to sei2015@ucp.pt.

A Selection Committee will blind review and rank all papers. The top 6 or 8 will be selected for inclusion into the program. No comments will be provided. Authors of accepted papers will be informed by March 31, 2015.

    Transportation, lodging and meals

    • The consortium will arrange and pay for one night's stay (May 14) for all speakers. Travel to Lisbon will also be reimbursed for all speakers.
    • There is no registration fee for the workshop. However, participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their travel to and accommodation in Lisbon.
    • Meals will be provided starting from dinner on May 14 until the end of the workshop in the afternoon of May 15.
    • Please note that due to accommodation and seating constraints, participation is by invitation only.
