Measuring Value Creation and Value Capture in Strategy Research: New Challenges and New Methods

Saturday, Aug 2 2014 11:15AM - 1:15PM at Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel, room Independence B

    NOTE: No registration required

Organizers: Natarajan Balasubramanian (Syracuse), Olivier Chatain (Wharton), Denisa Mindruta (HEC Paris), Michael Ryall (Toronto)

Discussants and Presenters: Victor Bennett (USC) Marvin Lieberman, (UCLA), Gus Stuart (Columbia), Tomasz Obloj (HEC Paris)

Cosponsored by BPS, TIM, ENT, RM

The concepts of value creation and value capture (VCVC) have taken center stage theoretically and empirically in strategy research. Yet as we move to a broader understanding of how value is created and shared among buyers, firms, employees, suppliers and the government, new empirical methods can enable further unlocking of these theoretical advances. This professional development workshop will introduce recent methodological directions that are relevant to researchers of value creation and value capture. We will seek to better understand and measure how value is created and shared among stakeholders. We will combine presentations, discussion and round tables in a highly interactive format.
