    Posted 05-13-2015 12:47

Organizers:         Aija Leiponen, Kristina McElheran, Llewellyn Thomas

Facilitators:         Chris Forman, Aija Leiponen, Kristina McElheran, Henri Schildt, Prasanna Tambe, Llewellyn Thomas

The purpose of this workshop is to identify important and novel research questions and bring together a community of scholars around strategic management in the data economy. Popular business press and various consultancies have touted the rise of big data as a management challenge, but management scholarship is only beginning to emerge. Our panellists will present early insights into their research on the managerial, organizational, and strategic challenges related to big data. These presenters are leading scholars in the study of data-driven decision making, organizational and human capital implications of advanced IT systems and data analytics, digital platforms and ecosystems, and value capture through intellectual property rights and technical standards. Focusing on these strategic issues in the context of big data, we attempt to engage the workshop participants in an exploratory discussion of the emerging research agenda and begin to establish a community of strategic management scholars interested in the implications of big data to the content, processes, and outcomes of strategic management.

We look forward to seeing you there!
