3 posts of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor), Digital Economy

    Surrey Business School, UK

Located 30 minutes south of London in a purpose-built modern campus, the University of Surrey is a global university with a world-class research profile and an enterprising and forward-thinking spirit. The University of Surrey has risen in all major league tables for UK universities, and is proud to have been named University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016. We've been placed fourth in the UK for the second successive year in the Guardian University Guide for 2017, and moved up to eighth place in the Complete University Guide 2016.

The Department of Digital Economy at Surrey Business School is seeking applications for three Lecturer and / or Senior Lecturer positions (equivalent to Assistant Professor). This is part of an ambitious effort to develop a world-class group of scholars who will make significant contributions to the various facets of management research on the digital economy. We are looking for exceptional candidates who will play an important role in our department and as members of its affiliated Centre for Digital Economy (CoDE) at the University of Surrey. CoDE is an international centre of excellence in research and teaching on the digital economy. The Centre's research spans areas such as digital platforms and innovation ecosystems, open source/open innovation, emerging business models, and blockchain. The Business School is also strategically growing its activity in data science, cybersecurity and digital health.

These three positions at Surrey Business School will offer a light teaching load with globally competitive salaries, in order to attract high-potential research-orientated junior scholars. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with committed senior faculty who will support you toward ambitious publications objectives. CoDE is deeply engaged with local as well as international businesses and offers opportunities for meaningful interaction with a vibrant entrepreneurial community, which helps ensure our research and teaching are relevant. We also have strong links to researchers across the University in engineering, telecommunications (with the world-class 5G Innovation Centre), computing, digital media, and animal health.

Candidates should hold a relevant doctoral degree and be well-trained in a management-related academic discipline (strategy, organization theory, economics, management of information systems) and should demonstrate their ability and sustained interest to conduct novel empirical research on phenomena that are important to the digital economy. Our ambition is to develop the next generation of top researchers in strategic management of digital innovation. We are particularly interested in candidates who are studying digital platforms and digital innovation ecosystems. You will have demonstrated a strong potential for A-journal publications and should have experience of teaching in higher education in a business school context.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious junior faculty, where you will be able to develop as a scholar in a supportive and exciting environment.

Informal enquires should be directed in the first instance to Prof. Annabelle Gawer, Professor of Digital Economy and Co-Director of CoDE: a.gawer@surrey.ac.uk

The closing date for receipt of applications is 23rd July 2016. Candidates should send their cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching statement and a sample of up to three representative research papers, as well as three recommendation letters. Informal interviews will be held at the AOM in Anaheim during the conference.

    Equality and Diversity:

The University of Surrey's ethos is based upon a belief in our ability to make a difference to the world - to have a positive impact through our free-thinking and hard work. We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee. The University values and embraces diversity and is committed to provide an inclusive environment. Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference. We are proud to have been awarded the Athena Swan Bronze Award recognising our commitment and good practices in encouraging the advancement of women's careers in higher education and research.

    Facilities and Life on Campus:

The University is fortunate to have a wealth of on-site campus facilities, having recently invested in a first-class Learning Resources Centre, state-of-the-art facilities at the Surrey Sports Park, and the new Ivy Arts Centre.
