The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an open rank, Lee Professorship in Strategy/Executive Education. Preference will be given to Senior Assistant or Associate Professor rank. This position is one of ten Lee Scholar professorships endowed by the $15 million naming gift for the Lee Business School. In addition to solid research in strategy, the Lee Scholar in strategy will help build our graduate online education and executive education offerings in strategy.
UNLV is a doctoral degree-granting institution of approximately 29,000 students and more than 3,000 faculty and staff that is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with high research activity. UNLV offers a broad range of respected academic programs and is on a path to join the top tier of national public research universities. The Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MET) includes 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty, several of which were hired in the past few years. The faculty value high quality research, effective teaching and collegiality. The department spans research and teaching in organizational behavior, human resources, strategy, information management and entrepreneurship and offers separate undergraduate degrees in management, entrepreneurship and information management, as well as a Master of Management Information Systems.
Las Vegas provides a largely untapped research setting for many types of strategy research. Annually, Las Vegas hosts over 41 million tourists, accommodates over 22,000 conventions, and is home to fifteen of the world's 25 largest hotels. As the only research university in Las Vegas, UNLV has unique access to these world-class organizations. This access would be particularly valuable to the right strategy researcher.
QUALIFICATIONS & SALARY
Candidates must have a strong academic record with demonstrated excellence in both research and teaching. In accordance with the chaired nature of the position, applications are expected to have an established pipeline of ongoing successful scholarship at top-tier strategy outlets. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in executive education and/or online education. ABD applicants will not be considered. The salary for this position is competitive with chaired positions at similarly situated institutions, which includes additional support in the form of summer stipends and additional travel/research funds.
