Call for 2013 AOM TIM Junior Faculty Consortium
The Technology and Innovation Management Division of the Academy of Management is pleased to invite applications for the 2013 TIM Junior Faculty Consortium to be held at the Academy of Management meeting in Orlando (Florida) on Friday, August 9th and Saturday, August 10th, 2013.
If you are an early career academic (assistant professor or its equivalent) and teach or research in the TIM domain, this professional development workshop is for you. The workshop will provide you with insights that you need to thrive in the increasingly challenging academic environment. It focuses on strategies for impact as a scholar and teacher, as well as on building a career in diverse professional settings.
The consortium will feature outstanding senior faculty members with proven records of research and teaching, who lead interactive discussions about how to balance the competing pressures of teaching, research and service. They will provide first-hand and detailed advice about how to build a successful academic career in a range of different institutional settings. Participants will also learn about publishing in top journals, meet the editors of prestigious journals in the field, and receive developmental feedback on their working papers from their peers and senior faculty. The consortium will also provide participants with the opportunity for reflection and renewal, for networking with friends and colleagues, and for meeting new peers and senior colleagues with shared interests. This year we will also include a discussion of professional ethics in academia.
The senior faculty members thus far committed to the consortium include:
Rajshree Agarwal (U. Maryland) Mary Benner (U. Minnesota)
Janet Bercovitz (U. Illinois) Stefano Brusoni (ETH Zurich)
Michelle Gittelman (Rutgers U.) Marc Gruber (EPFL Lausanne)

PDW Description
The purpose of this professional development workshop is to stimulate research into the multilevel nature of knowledge transfer and knowledge creation within and between organizations. While research has examined the influence of social networks on innovation at different levels of analysis – the micro, meso and macro - we know little about how these levels interact. Specifically, an understanding of the micro-foundations of higher-level innovation networks is largely missing. This workshop aims to bring together doctoral students and faculty from multiple topical domains who share a common interest in innovation networks and who wish to contribute to innovation network research, in general, and multilevel innovation networks research, in particular. The workshop will consist of two modules: (1) short presentations by experienced scholars who are investigating the multilevel nature of innovation networks, followed by general Q and A; and (2) small group discussions of participants' interests in and research efforts on the topic of multilevel innovation networks, facilitated by PDW presenters.

Apologies for cross-posting
Dear Friends,
We invite you very warmly for the third Network of Leadership Scholars Research/Practice Conference to join academics and practitioners representing different disciplines and sectors and to work on addressing a complex challenge with research.
Conference Theme for 2013
In line with the Academy of Management the theme for this year's conference is Homelessness and Helpfulness: Building Lasting Cross-Sector Partnerships with Leadership. Like other great societal challenges such as HIV/AIDS and environmental injustice, homelessness cannot be solved through efforts of one sector (business, nonprofits, government, media, or community) alone. Cross-sector collaboration has been found to be critical to successfully addressing homelessness and other vexing social and business problems. However, few scholars have attempted to examine the role of leadership in enabling such collaboration. We seek to address this gap combining multidisciplinary knowledge about cross-sector collaboration and leadership. Consequently, we welcome scholars from within and outside leadership discipline.
Process & Desired Outcome
Drawing from stories and information provided by practitioners and research findings from scholars, participants will be challenged to work together to develop frameworks for building cross-sector partnerships in the context of alleviating homeless in Central Florida. Our goal is to generate a set of knowledge products that will help scholars and practitioners in researching and designing meaningful interventions to improve the success rate of such initiatives. In the process, we will also inform understanding of cross-sector leadership.
We expect to contribute to academia by addressing the scarcity in research identifying specific leadership behaviors and competencies required for lasting cross-sector collaborations. Academics will also benefit directly from the generation of a research agenda based on existing challenges and tentative propositions developed during the workshop. We contribute to practice by helping practitioners understand what research has shown regarding these issues and what more could be learned by engaging strong leadership processes.
Format, Dates, and Registration
We will address the theme using a Design Thinking for Scholars process developed for our purposes. This methodology engages researchers and practitioners in creatively exploring and collaboratively identifying innovative and valuable new knowledge products. We will organize webinars before the conference in order to introduce the participants to the methodology used and to the theme.
We will begin on Thursday (the 8th of August) afternoon and will continue on Friday as a day-long PDW titled "Homelessness and Helpfulness: What Does Leadership Have to Offer?"
PLEASE NOTE THIS YEAR OUR CONFERENCE IS PARTIALLY BLENDED WITH THE PROGRAM OF THE ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT MEETING AS A PDW.
PLEASE REGISTER ON THE ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT WEBSITE (the registration for the PDW component automatically gives you access to both days of the conference).
For more information about the conference you may contact Chris Dembek (kdembek@gmail.com).
We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!

Rank is at the Assistant or Associate Professor, although exceptional candidates at higher rank may be considered. The start date is August 2014.
