Call for applications: TIM Doctoral Research Development Workshop to be held
at the Academy of Management meetings in Vancouver, August 8, 2015
The newly-created TIM Doctoral Research Development Workshop is designed as
an idea-, paper-, and dissertation-development workshop for PhD students
interested in technology, innovation, creativity, product development, and
related topics. Students may be at any stage in the PhD process, and the
ideas brought to the workshop can range from the beginnings of a paper or
dissertation idea to a fully-developed paper. The workshop will combine both
a group discussion of what makes quality research, as well as extensive time
dedicated to roundtable conversations about submitted research ideas from
doctoral students. Workshop facilitators will include a mix of junior,
mid-career, and senior scholars who have been served as members of TIM
leadership committee, TIM Dissertation Award finalists, TIM Emerging Scholar
finalists, and other recent awards - the type of people that will comprise
the reviewer pool for any quality journal submission.
Workshop facilitators include:
Michael Bikard (London Business School)
Christian Catalini (MIT)
JP Eggers (NYU)
Carolin Haeussler (University of Passau) Kristina McElheran (University of
Toronto) Ryan Raffaelli (Harvard Business School) Mary Tripsas (Boston
College) Brian Wu (University of Michigan)
The workshop will run on Saturday, August 8 2015, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at
the Vancouver Academy of Management Meetings. Participation is limited to 32
students.
The application deadline is May 31, 2015. To register, please submit the
following information to:
AOMTIMDissertation@gmail.com
(1) A one-page summary of your research idea, which will be used to form
tables for discussion.
(2) Your stage in the PhD program.
At least one week prior to the workshop, accepted students will be asked to
submit something more substantial, based on the stage of the paper -
anything from an extended abstract to a full draft. We look forward to
seeing you in Vancouver!
