Thank you for posting this job opening to the TIM Division List.
The Technology and Innovation Management Group (www.tim.wi.tum.de) at TUM School of Management, Technische Universität München, invites applications for a
Postdoctoral Scholar in Innovation Management Studies
Who we are
The TIM Group, headed by Prof. Joachim Henkel and Prof. Christina Raasch, does research in various fields of innovation management studies, in particular in the areas of open innovation, user innovation, markets for technology, profiting from innovation, modularity, and patent management. Our goal is to combine leading-edge management research, mostly empirical, with relevance for practice and excellent teaching.
We are part of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship department at the TUM School of Management, which also features Oliver Alexy, Nicola Breugst, Hana Milanov, and Holger Patzelt. The department and the wider school focus on conducting world-class research and teaching at the interface between management and technology. Established in 2002, we consistently top the rankings of management schools in Germany, and we are currently going through several accreditation processes to sharpen our global profile. Members of the department publish regularly in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, California Management Review, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Harvard Business Review, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Strategic Management Journal.
What we expect
You have successfully completed a Ph.D. in the field of innovation management studies or a related area such as strategy, entrepreneurship, economics of innovation, or business informatics. As a postdoctoral scholar in the TIM Group you will have the opportunity to do research independently and in collaboration with other group members. You are expected to publish in leading journals, to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, to contribute to services to the faculty, and to establish connections to practitioners. A habilitation – the classical path to a professorship in Germany – is possible if desired by the candidate. Very good English language skills are required; knowledge of German is an asset, but not required.
What you can expect
TUM and Munich offer a great environment for innovation management studies, with a broad industry base and a vibrant start-up scene. It is also home to numerous venture capital firms, as well the German and the European Patent Office. The salary of the announced full-time job is according to the level TV-L E 13 of the German public sector. The position is initially financed for two years; an extension is possible. As part of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments, TUM has been pursuing the strategic goal of substantially increasing the diversity of its faculty. As an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, TUM explicitly encourages applications from women as well as from all others who would bring additional diversity to the university's research and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with disabilities with essentially the same qualifications.
If interested, please send a curriculum vitae, certificates, publications, names of three references, and a brief statement of career goals to Joachim Henkel via email (henkel@wi.tum.de) by August 15, 2015. The planned starting date is October 1, 2015, though this is flexible. Please also approach Joachim Henkel with any questions you may have.
