    Entrepreneurship: University Research Chairs and the Paul Desmarais Professorship http://www.academiccareers.uottawa.ca/position

    The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is seeking applications from established scholars for two University Research Chairs in Entrepreneurship and for the Paul Desmarais Professorship in Entrepreneurship commencing July 1, 2015.

    The University of Ottawa, a top-ten research-intensive university in Canada, is committed to becoming a globally recognized institution for creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial culture across campus. With highly ranked Faculties of Medicine, Engineering and Law, along with an internationally accredited School of Management, many of the structures are already in place. The University is currently in the process of creating an Entrepreneurial Hub linking faculties and programs and contributing to the attainment of a shared vision of becoming a leader in the promotion and development of an entrepreneurial culture across the University and within the National Capital region.

    To further facilitate these goals we are seeking experienced scholars in Entrepreneurship (inclusive of Social Innovation) who would develop a research program, teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in Entrepreneurship and perhaps also in a functional discipline of expertise. Working with a team of established entrepreneurship scholars and practitioners your primary roles will be to provide academic leadership in research, curriculum development and program delivery in entrepreneurship, provide mentorship to students engaged in new enterprise creation and to develop and maintain industry relationships. To this end, the Ottawa region is a vibrant entrepreneurial community, one that-with your leadership-could provide additional opportunities for research on, and growth of, start-ups, and within which the University would play an enhanced role.

    The Telfer School of Management welcomes applications from candidates who combine experience and expertise in entrepreneurship with a functional discipline within management. Practical experience in entrepreneurship is also an asset. Applications for these positions will be accepted until November 24, 2014, or until the positions are filled. A short list of candidates will then be invited for interviews that will be held during the first week of December 2014. The ideal candidates for all of the above positions will come with:
    • a well-established program of research as demonstrated by a high number of articles published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals;
    • strong teaching competency at the undergraduate, professional (MBA) and Masters and/or Ph.D. levels as demonstrated by past teaching evaluations and a presentation given to faculty members and students if invited for an interview; and,
    • experience in graduate student supervision as evidenced by having graduated and published with several students.

    All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Equity is a University of Ottawa policy; women, Aboriginal peoples, members of visible minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applications must contain: 1) a letter of intent, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) a brief research statement, 4) a brief statement of teaching philosophy, 5) recent teaching evaluation reports and 6) three letters of recommendation sent under separate cover by the due date.

    The Telfer School of Management is among the world's elite having obtained accreditation from all three of the most prestigious international sanctioning bodies: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. Fewer than 60 business schools worldwide have earned this triple international recognition. The Telfer School of Management comprises more than 80 full-time faculty members and approximately 4,000 students enrolled in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Telfer is strategically developing research and teaching excellence in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management, Health Systems Management, Performance Management and Business Analytics. The University is a bilingual institution. Accordingly, these positions are open to both Francophone and Anglophone colleagues. Having a working knowledge of both official languages is a requirement for tenure. Having the capacity to teach in both languages is an asset.

    Ottawa has a vibrant cultural life with an abundance of theatres, national museums, and festivals. With a population of more than one million residents, the area is famous for its green spaces, bicycle paths and rivers, making it especially appealing to people with an active lifestyle. Also known as Silicon Valley North, Ottawa is a leading centre for the high technology, life sciences, education, medical sciences and bio-technology sectors. Mercer ranks Ottawa, Canada's Capital, among the top 15 cities worldwide with respect to quality of life.
