The Chair of Corporate Strategy & Innovation, part of the College of Management of Technology at EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) has an opening for a PhD researcher in the topic of digital- and service-related business model innovation in the FinTech domain.
The finance and financial services industries are experiencing evolutionary disruption as technological developments threaten to outpace the ability of incumbents to adapt. How they do adapt, and how new players take advantage of emerging opportunities exposed by the advent of new business models, service innovations, and technology developments, may provide insights to the next wave of innovation in this and other industries.
The suitable candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of the FinTech domain with interest in the mechanisms and methods of innovation in this field. Said candidates shall have a Masters degree from a reputable institution, preferably with a thesis topic that addresses some element of the intended research. Industry experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
The PhD position will typically span 4 years, including mandatory doctoral coursework. Dissertation, coursework, and student projects will all be in English. The start date will be 15 September 2018.
