IMPERIAL COLLEGE INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONVERSATION 2018
To be held at the British Academy, London, July 9 - July 10th 2018.
Deadline for submissions of the extended abstract (maximum 1,000 words): 30th April 2018
The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Department of Imperial College London invites you to submit research papers for presentation at the annual Innovation & Entrepreneurship Conversation. This annual workshop brings together cutting-edge research in innovation and entrepreneurship to explore an emergent and important theme.
The theme of this year's conversation is "New Organizational Forms as Enablers of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Exploring Their Impacts." In less than a decade, we have witnessed the global emergence of new forms of organizing innovation and entrepreneurship - epitomized by the likes of Uber and Airbnb. Some are designed to enable entrepreneurs to develop their venture ideas, such as co-working spaces, hatcheries, and accelerators. Others focus on bringing together different stakeholders to facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship, such as crowdfunding platforms, social enterprise, and the sharing economy. This I&E Conversation aims to advance the debate on these new organizational forms given the fragmented and emergent state of research about them.
We welcome papers that approach these questions from different theoretical, methodological, and empirical angles. We invite both visionary discussion papers exploring future research agendas (e.g., do we need a new theory for explaining these phenomena), as well as specific deep-dives into the related topics, such as crowdfunding, sharing economy, accelerators, co-working spaces, makers movement, blockchain, and social enterprise.
The workshop will be a 1.5-day event, with around 12 presentations of papers that fit the theme. The event will take the form of a focused workshop of paper presentations with assigned discussants and ample space for discussion and Q&A. This will include the perspectives of leading experts: Professors Susan Cohen (University of Richmond), Israel Drori (VU University), Oliver Alexy (TUM School of Management), Pinar Ozcan (Warwick Business School) and Stefan Haefliger (Cass Business School, City University) have confirmed their attendance.
