Back by popular demand, we invite you to attend the 5th annual
PDW
on Innovations and Trends in Entrepreneurial Finance Research during the Academy of Management Meetings in Atlanta. The
PDW
will be on Saturday August 5th at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta the Learning Center from
2:30-4:30pm
.
The purpose of this
PDW
is to discuss new research approaches to studying recent empirical developments in entrepreneurial finance. Although prior research has highlighted how vital venture investors are to startup success, a variety of new forms of venture investing have arisen in recent years. These new organizations, and in some case organizational forms, are worthy of study because of their contribution to fostering innovation and economic development. For example, scholars have recently begun to study crowd funding, super angels, micro-VC funds, foundation funding, government funding programs and venture accelerators. In this
PDW
we will discuss the current state of entrepreneurial finance and the exciting variety of new avenues for fruitful inquiry. This year we will have a special focus on connecting theory and practice.
The
PDW
will begin with a panel discussion of scholars including Aaron Chatterji (Duke University), Jonathan Eckhardt (University of Wisconsin, Madison), Rory McDonald, (Harvard Business School), and Rhonda Reger (University of Missouri) followed by a moderated discussion and open Q&A to discuss current research interests by other interested scholars.
Best,
Benjamin Hallen, Riitta Katila & Emily Pahnke
