    Postdoc position in Logistics Innovation Management

    The Department of Technology and Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University, invites outstanding candidates to fill a postdoc position in Logistics Innovation Management. The postdoc is invited to join the unit as of April 1, 2016, or later upon availability.

    The postdoc will study innovation processes in the logistics sector. The question is which models or theories in the field of innovation management can be applied to logistics innovation processes, which are usually characterized by high stakeholder complexity as a consequence of the need to innovate different parts of a larger system at the same time. Theories related to innovation networks, orchestrating multi-partner innovation and innovation in alliances will fit the situation, but also literature on team structures and project control and new trends in innovation management such as lean innovation may be very well applicable. The postdoc can build upon research done in the innovation management group on innovation alliances, system innovation, standardisation for innovation and multi-partner collaboration in innovation, and on research in the supply chain management group on global supply chain management, container logistics, and port logistics.

    The postdoc will be part of a larger programme in which PhD students study logistic innovation projects from a logistics perspective (user cases). The postdoc will have access to these cases as empirical material. The advisory board with company representatives and several full professors involved in the programme can provide further access to the logistics sector.

    The position is for 1.5 years but an extension to 3 years may be possible.

    Applicants should have:

    -          Completed (or expect to complete by spring 2016) a Ph.D. from a leading business school in Innovation Management, Supply Chain Management or in related fields with a focus on innovation (for instance, Operations Management, Economics, Strategy);

    -          Demonstrated a potential for excellence in research and teaching, amongst others by having papers published in, or submitted to, highly ranked journals.

    To improve the diversity in our group we especially invite women to apply for this vacancy.

    What we offer:

    -          A strong research environment; a young, enthusiastic and prolific research group;

    -          Research budget that covers conference participations, data collection and research assistance;

    -          Competitive salary with attractive benefits (scale 11.2 in the Dutch university salary system; €50,900,- per year). Substantial tax benefits apply to non-Dutch citizens, conditional on permission granted by the Dutch Tax Office.

    Supervisors: Prof. Jan van den Ende (Innovation Management) and Prof. Rob Zuidwijk (Supply Chain Management).
