Administrative data are essential for studying innovation, strategy, and entrepreneurship, providing the empirical evidence needed to test theories and inform decisions. While patent data have been widely used, answering today's key questions requires broader, more diverse sources of information.
This symposium introduces new, carefully assembled datasets at the firm, patent, publication, and individual levels-spanning both historical and recent periods, and capturing data on large firms and startups alike. These resources support research on topics such as:
- The participation of large U.S. firms in science and technology
- The role of human capital in driving innovation
- The contribution of government funding to American R&D
Presenters will describe how these datasets were constructed, what they reveal about emerging trends, and how they can support future research in innovation and entrepreneurship.
We look forward to seeing you there!
