    Hello!

    Would it be possible to post this in the daily digest?

    Thank you very much.

    Best wishes,

    Luca

    Dear colleagues,

    Happy to announce a forthcoming Special Issue of European Management Review on:

    "European Research Projects: Governance, Collaboration, and Impact"

    Alongside Daniel Alonso Martinez, Francesco Gangi, and Rosana Silveira Reis, we are inviting submissions that use European research projects (for example, Horizon consortia, mission-oriented programmes, and cross-border industry–academia partnerships) as a rich empirical setting to advance management and organization theory, while also speaking to practice and policy.

    Special Issue focus (in brief)
    The Special Issue aims to develop theoretically rigorous and practically relevant insights into strategically relevant themes such as :

    • governance, partner selection and coordination within EU-funded consortia;

    • the impact of collaborative research on innovation, ecosystems and regional development;

    • the role of Horizon Europe and mission-oriented programs in shaping organizational and policy capabilities;

    • implications for academic careers, evaluation systems and open-science practices;

    • comparative perspectives on research governance between Europe and other regions.

    We welcome a wide range of approaches (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods), as long as contributions are clearly grounded in theory and evidence.

    Key dates for the Special Issue

    • Submission window: 1 November to 31 December 2026

    • Submissions are made through the journal's online system and follow the standard journal author guidelines.

    To support prospective authors, we will also run a Paper Development Workshop linked to the Special Issue during the European Academy of Management (EURAM) 2026 conference (16–19 June 2026). The session will be designed to provide constructive, developmental feedback, including roundtable discussions with Special Issue guest editors and expert discussants. Please note that participation in the PDW is not a prerequisite for submitting your manuscript to the journal. Furthermore, acceptance to the PDW does not imply any preferential consideration with respect to publication in EMR.

    How to apply for the roundtables

    • Submit an extended proposal (maximum 3,000 words) outlining your research question, theoretical framing and intended contribution, context/methods, preliminary insights (if any), the paper's stage, and the feedback you are seeking.

    • Deadline: 30 April 2026

    • Email to: luca.pistilli@ucd.ie with the subject line: "EMR Special Issue Workshop Application"

    • Decisions will be communicated by mid-to-late May 2026.

    Even if you do not apply (or are not selected) for a roundtable slot, you are still very welcome to attend the session and participate in the broader discussion.

    European Management Review is a general management journal, concerned with governance, organization, and behaviour of entities, and their relationship with participants, counterparts, competitors, and contexts. It is distinctively interested in linking (management specialized domains to each other and to the social sciences where they belong); shaping (improvement) and leveraging on the European cultural inheritance in an outreaching spirit (global relevance). EMR's commitment to a fair editorial process and the types of manuscripts considered are described in the Author Guidelines.
