Call for papers for special issue "Designing Support Organizations for Early-Stage Entrepreneurship" in Journal of Business Venturing Design
Submission deadline: 31 October 2026
Guest editors: Georges Romme, Sujith Nair & Henrik Berglund
Startup founders are often overwhelmed by increasingly complex tasks, especially in areas where technologies and market trends evolve and develop at great speed and scale. More than ever, entrepreneurs stand to benefit from strong forms of entrepreneurial support to navigate such turbulent and disruptive environments. As such, entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) such as incubators, accelerators, and venture studios have become pivotal actors in entrepreneurial ecosystems. Their rise reflects a broader transformation in how early-stage ventures are ideated, created, launched, and scaled. This JBVD special issue seeks to advance the body of knowledge on how ESOs design support structures and processes for incubation and venture development, how they function and perform, and what kind of impact they have.
