Following the launch of the lecture series "Humanity in the Automated State" with Professor Christine Moser last November, we are pleased to invite you to the next session featuring Dr. Aya Rizk (Linköping University) on 12 January 2026, 15:30-16:45.
Dr. Rizk's lecture, "Algorithms at the Frontline: Making Sense of Automated Decision-Making in Public Administrations," will explore how street-level bureaucrats experience and navigate automated decision-making systems in their daily work-examining the tensions between algorithmic outputs and professional judgment, discretion, and care.
Streaming is available, allowing online participants to listen but not actively contribute. In-person attendees are welcome to join the lecture at room A0.51, Kammerlingh Onnes Gebouw, Steenschuur 25, Leiden, and a networking reception at the Global Lounge from 16:45-17:45.
