Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to invite you to the fifth lecture in the series "Humanity in the Automated State". This lecture is featuring Dr. Mengchen Dong (Max Planck Institute for Human Development) and will take place on 19 March 2026, 15:30-16:45 (A0.51, Kammerlingh Onnes Gebouw, Steenschuur 25, Leiden, The Netherlands; and online).
Dr. Dong will present her paper "False consensus biases AI against vulnerable stakeholders", in which she shows that while the public generally accepts some accuracy loss for faster AI-driven welfare decisions, those directly affected by these systems are far less willing to make that trade-off, highlighting the need for meaningful stakeholder engagement in AI policy design.
Streaming will be available, allowing online participants to listen, but not actively contribute.
