    Overview

This panel will explore the "next stage" of platform ecosystems, now under increasing regulatory scrutiny worldwide. The EU and China have begun enforcing new measures, with UK, South Korea and Australia to follow. Despite these heightened regulations, Big Tech platforms continue to strengthen their position-investing in AI and expanding into regulated sectors like healthcare. This creates a paradox: platform power is growing even as new regulations seek to rein it. Amid these shifts, platforms are adapting. Apple faces competition from alternative app stores due to DMA, while Google faces competition from LLM-powered challengers. Meanwhile, investments in AI surge, as seen in Microsoft's relationship with OpenAI.

The panelists-experts on platforms, regulation, and AI-will share insights to illuminate the next phase of innovation, competition, and governance in platform markets. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of these issues as well as practical guidance on the critical questions facing researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.
