    Generation A:

Research on Autism in the Workplace

    Call for Chapter Proposals

We are currently seeking chapter proposals for an edited book about Research on Autism in the Workplace and Generation A to be published by Emerald Publishing.  Over the next decade, close to a half-million people with ASD will reach adulthood (CDC, 2016). These numbers are staggering and suggest the need to examine the long-term work, career, and life outcomes for this generational cohort. While the majority of individuals entering the workplace in the next decade will be members of Generation Z, the term Generation A is used to represent the generational cohort of individuals with ASD who will reach adulthood and who will be poised to enter the workplace in the next decade (Hurley-Hanson, Giannantonio, and Griffiths, 2020). While little is known about the work experiences and career outcomes that these individuals will experience, the individual, organizational, and societal issues associated with autism in the workplace underscore the importance of this topic for both academics and practitioners.

Potential chapters could explore all aspects of Autism in the Workplace with a particular emphasis on Generation A. Chapters may focus on the impact of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on various aspects of employment, as well as how ASD may manifest itself across career stages and in the workplace of the future. International submissions are welcome. Interested authors are asked to submit a 100 word abstract of the proposed chapter by December 1, 2020. Submissions should be sent to ahurley@chapman.edu & giannant@chapman.edu. Please feel free to contact with any questions and be safe.
