Gender mainstreaming as a strategic approach to gender equality gained attention post the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995. Gender mainstreaming mandates incorporating gender equality concerns as an integral part of policy and programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. We as the editors of this book hope to engage with the following questions around gender mainstreaming, for inclusive, sustainable and transformative development:
· What are the analytical frameworks to understand the relationship between gender and development?
· How can gender roles affect decision making power in the development process?
· How to address the problem of gender inequality?
The volume proposes to invite conceptual, theoretical, and empirical contributions that address questions related to gender mainstreaming across diverse domains and sectors. The themes around which contributions are welcome will include, but are not limited to:-
· Sustainable Development: Perspectives of Developing and Developed Countries.
· Methodological and Operational Challenges of gender mainstreaming
· Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
· Gender Mainstreaming in formal and informal Employment
· Gender Mainstreaming in Education
· Gender Mainstreaming in Health & Food
· Gender Mainstreaming in Art Practices
· Gender Mainstreaming in Community-Based Organisations
· Gender Mainstreaming in Non-Farm Rural Livelihoods
· Gender Mainstreaming in Agriculture & Allied Livelihoods
· Gender Mainstreaming in Natural Resources and Commons
