Hi everyone! My name is Salome Opoku, and I'm a rising 5th-year PhD candidate at Arizona State University. I'm working on my dissertation, which explores how professionals navigate communication in English-dominant workplaces, and I'm currently looking for participants to interview.
I'm especially interested in hearing from professionals who grew up speaking a language other than English and now use English regularly in their work. Whether using English at work feels easy, challenging, or somewhere in between, I'd genuinely love to hear about your experience building a career in a language you didn't grow up speaking.
I'm looking to speak with individuals who:
- Grew up speaking a language other than English at home
- Currently work in the United States
- Have been in a role for at least 6 months where communication is central to the job (e.g., meetings, presentations, collaboration, general workplace conversations)
- Use English as the primary language at work
Participation involves a confidential 60-minute interview conducted over Zoom/Teams (or in person if local), and participants will receive a $20 gift card as a thank-you for their time.
If you're interested, please complete this short 5-minute screening survey below:

Feel free to share with anyone who may be a good fit as well. Thank you so much!
