We have just launched four new, multidisciplinary research areas – the Areas of Excellence – that will catalyze research about timely topics for business and society: The Future of Work, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, & Business, The World We Want (focusing on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals), and The Complexity Advantage (focusing on complexity as an opportunity to understand and leverage rather than a threat). The Areas will provide both resources and aggregation points to our faculty members working on related topics and will act as catalyzers to host visiting scholars who are globally recognized experts on such themes.
As part of this effort to boost impactful research, the Areas now also host our re-booted PhD program, which will accept eight fully funded PhD each year, and hire eight new postdocs (I will post about these positions soon) and four data scientists. By doing so, we are positioning ourselves as a great place to do research.
