GDO Doctoral Consortium Nominations
We are seeking nominations for the 2022 AOM Gender and Diversity in Organizations (GDO) Doctoral Student Consortium. The consortium will most likely be conducted in a hybrid format and take place simultaneously live virtually and live in-person. The consortium is scheduled to be a part of the PDW program and is designed for students who are in the final years of their doctoral program (i.e., students who have made significant progress on their dissertation/thesis research, and/or students who are nearing the academic job market). Priority will be given to students who have made the most progress toward completing their Ph.D. program, but who have not yet defended their dissertations.
The consortium will include diverse speaker panels and activities designed to provide doctoral students with a realistic, open and honest understanding of scholarly life, including: realistic academic job previews across varying types of academic institutions; different tips and takes on how to publish diversity research in management journals; and wellbeing and mental health discussion related to resiliency during the Ph.D. to junior faculty transition and afterwards.
Confirmed panelists include:
- Nitya Chawla, Texas A&M
- Erika V. Hall, Emory U
- Lars Johnson, Wayne State U
- Tiffany Johnson, Georgia Tech
- Christine Nittrouer, Texas Tech U
- Samantha Paustian-Underdahl, Florida State U
- Enrica Ruggs, U of Houston
- Katina Sawyer, George Washington U
- Aneika Simmons, Sam Houston State U
- Sabrina Volpone, U of Colorado-Boulder
- Nicole Jones Young, Franklin & Marshall College
- Lex Washington, Oklahoma State U
Students will have the opportunity for more personalized connections and feedback through a mentor-match to be held immediately after the consortium (or at another mutually agreed to time), in which students are paired with a senior scholar based on the student's research interests.
We expect an enrolment of about 25 doctoral students, and the application deadline will be May 1, 2022.
The following information must be provided by interested students:
- A one-page CV in PDF format. Please clearly indicate your name when naming the file.
- A brief statement explaining your interest in attending the consortium (no more than one page) in PDF format. Please clearly indicate your name when naming the file.
To help us plan the session, please indicate whether you plan on attending virtually or in-person.
