  • 1.  Has anyone seen an example of a "DEI Roadmap"?

    Hi everyone,

    I was recently asked by the MBA office here if I was aware of any visual representation or "map" of the current diversity, equity, and inclusion landscape. This question was spurred by both their observation that there are many interconnected subjects, practices, and outcomes related to DEI, and their desire to make sure that they had as complete an understanding as possible of these topics and their interrelatedness as they launched new initiatives. My response was that I am not aware of such a roadmap, and given the complexity of the current landscape, I am not sure that it is even possible to create one. But, given my limited perspective, I wanted to also ask the question more broadly to the community. Is anyone aware of such a roadmap? If so, could you point me in that direction?

    The Society of Human Resources has a very helpful and thorough "DEI Roadmap" behind their paywall that is titled Guide to Developing a Strategic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan. Check with your HR faculty to see if they have a copy that you can review.

     

    For my HRM graduate 7-week online course on Diversity and Globalization, I have students do a compressed version of the Guide on their own organizations, which really helps them connect the long and winding road required to develop a D&I culture.
