I am beyond thrilled to tell you about our new JBP initiative in partnership with the Center for Open Science.  As you know, we all are on a quest to do great and robust science.  Our science, as a collective, benefits to the extent that our community helps raise all boats.  To the extent we are transparent and willing to share with others our research processes, procedures, and materials around our research we have a greater ability to learn from one another and our research has a greater capacity to accumulate, advance, and build off one another.  Borrowing from our colleagues in the Natural Sciences who have been doing this with success for years, JBP will be building a repository of content around each article it publishes. Namely, we will be asking every author to populate a page at the COS website associated with their JBP publication.  The author can choose to put any number of things in this repository.  Here are examples of content:

    - Surveys/Measures

    - Data

    - Syntax and/or coding scheme  (e.g., R code)

    - Additional procedural details

    - Pre-print

    - Any additional supplementary materials

We are not mandating specific content, but we are asking every author in the spirit of open science to put something in the repository even if it is just the measure or more details on their methodology.  My dream is that over time JBP will have a huge database of supporting materials associated with all of our publications.  This will serve to not only increase the positive impact of the science we publish, but also and most importantly serve to help our broader community of scientists.
