Colleagues, starting last year the Kauffman Foundation is funding two awards for conference papers linking entrepreneurship with gender and diversity topics. You can read about those awards and see the papers that won last year at this link:
Awards for Gender, Diversity, and EntrepreneurshipAlso related to entrepreneurship, here are two opportunities from Kauffman:
- See the request for proposals for the 2020 Knowledge Challenge. This program seeks to provide knowledge that can be used by people in decision-making positions around several focus areas, and is interested in programs/projects to make the pipeline of entrepreneurship researchers more inclusive. Applications will be accepted starting January 14, 2020. Full details are here: 2020 Knowledge Challenge RFP
- See below for a call for applicants to the Entrepreneurship Translational Research Bootcamp which aims to connect research and practice in the entrepreneurship area. Applications are due by January 8, 2020.

Entrepreneurship Translational Research Bootcamp
Call for Applicants
June 28 – July 2, 2020
Kansas City, Missouri
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation will host a bootcamp for translational research on entrepreneurship June 28 – July 2, 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri.
The program will include two components: The first is a one-day intensive mentoring and professional development workshop guided by researchers and practitioners, and focused on research for practical impact, evolving questions in the study of entrepreneurship, and career trajectories in the field. The second is a three-day practical immersion to participate in a convening of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship support organizations, policy advocates, and policymakers. Bootcamp participants will have the opportunity to interact with these stakeholders and to learn firsthand about complex and urgent needs.
The program is designed to encourage translational research on entrepreneurship, which is informed by connecting research and practice. Ph.D students and untenured researchers (e.g. pre-tenure, postdocs, and non-university researchers) based at U.S. institutions are eligible to apply.
This is particularly well-suited for early stage Ph.D students who have not yet finalized a dissertation proposal and are considering a focus on entrepreneurship. It is also an exciting opportunity for researchers within five years of their Ph.D who are interested in, but have not previously studied, entrepreneurship. For example, researchers with training in psychology, informatics, anthropology, or city planning may be interested in extending their established expertise to the study of entrepreneurship.
Participants will receive a $3,000 stipend. Participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements, including flights, hotel, and ground transportation in Kansas City. Participants must be present for the entire program and are expected to attend a welcome dinner on June 28.
Upon completion of the bootcamp, participants will prepare a summary report reflecting on their experience to be submitted to the Foundation.
Eligibility
Applicants must be based (current enrollment or current employment) at a U.S. institution. Applicants must have no existing financial relationships with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Application Process and Deadlines
Please submit your application by January 8, 2020. The Foundation will notify applicants of selection decisions by March 1, 2020. Participants are expected to confirm their attendance by April 1, 2020.
