    Position Overview

    The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for an Area Director for the Management Area beginning academic year 2022-2023. The search is open at the Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant's scholarly and teaching record. This is a full-time, 9-month, academic year, tenured appointment, to begin July 14, 2022. The administrative portion is a three-year renewable appointment that includes summer administrative responsibilities and administrative compensation.Director responsibilities include leading, administering, and coordinating activities within the area, and representing the area to the school and university. The director has decision making authority over the area budget, participates in all faculty hiring, evaluations and salary decisions, is responsible for coordinating curricula and faculty development within the area, and communicates area accomplishments, needs, and opportunities. Associate or Full Professor responsibilities include teaching two courses each year, mentoring junior faculty and students, and maintaining a limited research agenda.     Job Description

    60% Administration of the Management Area; engage in school, university, and professional service activities as needed.20% Teach a combination of required and elective courses in a management discipline. Courses may be leadership, strategic management, human resources, organizational behavior, international business, etc. at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels.20% Conduct and publish research in leading academic journals.

    Required Qualifications

    Evaluation of these requirements will be made through application materials. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant's scholarly and teaching record.For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:

    1. A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant or related to the Management area (e.g., Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, etc.)
    2. Record of teaching excellence in strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, international business, leadership or entrepreneurship.
    3. Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
    4. Evidence of potential to serve in a managerial capacity within a business school at a research-oriented university of a similar research profile as the University of Kansas.

    For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:

    1. A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant or related to the Management area (e.g., Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship, etc.
    2. Established record of teaching excellence in strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, international business, leadership or entrepreneurship, as well as experience directing doctoral students.
    3. Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Full Professor at research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
    4. Evidence of potential to serve in a managerial capacity within a business school at a research-oriented university of a similar research profile as the University of Kansas.
