Just 10 days away from the deadline! Great opportunity to get involved with GDO.

    GDO Global Ambassador Recruitment

The Gender & Diversity in Organizations (GDO) Division seeks volunteers to serve as Global Ambassadors for the Division.

The goals for GDO Global Ambassadors in 2020 are to (1) recruit new division members from emerging economies and regions of the world that are underrepresented at AOM and (2) help these individuals become integrated into the AOM/GDO community. Ambassador efforts this year will revolve around a Professional Development Workshop (PDW) at AOM 2020 designed to help members of emerging/underrepresented regions to develop papers for future AOM conferences, connect with mentors and GDO Executive members, and introduce them to the conference more broadly.

Specific GDO Global Ambassador tasks include (but are not limited to):

*Partnering with relevant AOM sister organizations (e.g., Africa Academy of Management, Indian Academy of Management, Iberoamerican Academy of Management) to identify and recruit Management scholars from universities in emerging/underrepresented societies.

*Attending the workshop (where possible) in a mentor/partner role to one or more participants.

*Building reciprocal, mutually-beneficial relationships with mentees/partners, such that mentors/mentees learn from one another. Ambassadors should help workshop participants to see themselves as valuable contributors to AOM and the GDO Division.

*Spending time with workshop participants at the conference beyond the actual event to help integrate them into AOM more broadly and connect with the GDO Division more specifically.

*Maintaining contact with one or more workshop participants throughout the year to help guide them through the paper development and submission process for AOM 2021.

We hope that many GDO Global Ambassadors will have origins, current employment, or other strong connections in emerging or underrepresented societies. However, we welcome all applicants, regardless of your experience with these regions. Requirements to become a GDO Global Ambassador include:

    *GDO Division membership

*An interest in learning from members of other cultures

*A history of paper acceptances at AOM (as Ambassadors will be expected to help workshop participants develop paper submissions for future conferences)

*A strong desire to contribute to the GDO Division in a volunteer role

To apply, please send A.K. Ward (akward@vt.edu) a personal statement of at least 300 words. The statement should include a brief biography, relevant background/experience, and an explanation of how others (including the GDO Division) would benefit from your service in this role. The deadline for applications is February 17th, 2020.
