    Hello GDO members,
You are invited to attend a Town Hall meeting to collect member feedback on the proposed division domain statement change and division name change. This meeting builds on the member survey that was circulated last year.

Two meetings are scheduled, and both will be similar. Feel free to join both if you like. You can register here, and you must register to get the zoom links:

    Wednesday, March 2:  https://aom-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUqdO-trDsqEtT4bqPWwlJiLv7vMRpULtIf

    Thursday, March 3: https://aom-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYpdeChqTMvGdYhv9zwuTR9jizdMoHfhdQu

    Additional Background

This conversation emerged from our regular 5-year division review process completed in 2019, which explicitly prompts us to consider how well the division name and statement reflect the division. The executive committee drafted a set of potential revisions (available under the GDO "about us" tab; https://gdo.aom.org/about-us/fiveyearreport) based on our shared understanding of members and the field. We shared this draft with GDO members and requested feedback, which can be seen in the attached document "Feedback on GDO Division Name...."

To ensure that we understand and can reflect your preferences, we invite you to participate in a Town Hall discussion regarding these potential changes. We sincerely want to represent the community, and the questions we'd like to address are:

    • Does the domain statement adequately capture the breadth of the diversity conceptual space?
    • Should the domain name be changed to incorporate any concepts raised by the membership (such as Equality, Equity, Fairness, Belonging)?
    • Should the term "Gender" remain in the domain name or be removed? If "Gender" remains, should it be the first term in the name?
AOM has extensive multi-step guidelines for domain name and statement changes to make sure appropriate governance processes are followed (and we are following them!). Getting member input is an important step along the way, so we would appreciate your participation if your schedule permits. If you'd like to communicate any thoughts outside of the Town Hall format, you can contact any of the subcommittee members: Eden King (eden.b.king@rice.edu), Eddy Ng (eddy.ng@queensu.ca, Monica Gavino (monica.gavino@sjsu.edu), or Joy Beatty (jbeatty9@emich.edu).
