    GDO friends,

What a pleasure it was to interact with so many of you at our sessions in Atlanta.  Thank you very much for your engagement and commitment to our very important diversity issues.

I was delighted to meet so many members who participated in our activities.  I found the sessions very engaging and I especially loved seeing the many doctoral students who were first time presenters.  At the risk of sounding like an old academic, it really reminded me of my first paper presentation at AOM.  There is something special about getting that first paper and feeling recognized by your colleagues.  That said, for those of you who did not get paper acceptances, please do not feel discouraged.  Continue to refine your work and submit it to us.

A special thank you to those of you who attended our 'business meeting' – a name we are likely to change as it was pointed out that it's not really a business meeting but more of a report on what has happened over the past year and recognition to our colleagues for accomplishments in multiple areas – scholarship, service, leadership.

Being program chair for GDO was a wonderful (and often exhausting) experience and I really loved getting to see the interesting and impactful research from so many people.  Thank you so much for your contributions and, to the reviewers, a special thank you.  I leave you in excellent hands with my colleague Alison Sheridan, who takes over the program chair position.  I know she will enjoy her year as much as I did.

I encourage you to be in contact with any of us on the Executive Committee at GDO.  It is our members who we serve and we want to hear suggestions, comments, and feedback from you.

For those of you beginning your semester in the next couple of weeks (as I am) – enjoy!

Thanks for your service and hard work, Donna. Although I wasn't able to attend as many sessions as I typically do (interviewing at AOM is very time-consuming and results in a schedule that is not conducive to attending sessions), I heard nothing but good reports from colleagues about what they attended.
