At the interface between equality and difference: Jewish identity and management scholarship

    AOM assigned number: 10772

Sponsored by GDO, MSR and D&ITC. Room 218, Hilton Atlanta

Co-chairs Avi Kay (Jerusalem College of Technology, Israel), Alain Klarsfeld (Toulouse Business School, France)

After welcoming participants and describing the agenda and focus, we will start the workshop with a brief (10-minute) presentation focusing on two classic scholars, Kurt Lewin and Henry Tajfel.

In the second part, participants will be asked to individually reflect on their own reciprocal influences between religious/ethnic or other identity traits and their work.

Then there will be a presentation on how Jewish identity and work interact for four Jewish scholars from four different countries and four continents, active in the fields of diversity management and/or spirituality and religion.

In the final phase, participants will be invited to discuss the interactions between Jewish, other religious/ethnic identities, gender identity (or other traits) and the (management academia) workplace. How do the presentations resonate or connect with their own experiences and identities? What are the implications for our work?
