Siri Terjesen, American University, USA & Norwegian School of Economics, Norway, terjesen@american.edu

    Description:

The importance of diversity in upper-echelons has been discussed since Hambrick and Mason´s (1984) work. A growing body of research concerns why upper-echelons are rather homogenous, how diversity in upper echelons affects performance, and how to enhance diversity in upper echelons in terms of gender, race, and ethnicity. A parallel literature is concerned with different corporate governance regimes in various countries (e.g., quotas, comply-or-explain codes) and their impact on board gender diversity. We encourage submissions representing different views (antecedents, processes, dynamics and consequences) to enhance our understanding of diversity in boards and TMTs, including but not limited to studies focusing on individual, organizational or societal level, multi-level approaches and/or cross-cultural views
