Female junior academics are often faced with the challenge of identifying simultaneously with the new and demanding, yet sometimes conflicting, roles of academics and mothers. In this PDW we aim to bring together early career scholars working through this challenging period of their careers and lives to create a discussion about the strategies and outcomes of identifying with the role of academic and mother. We have a panel of academics who are either navigating, or have successful navigated, these role tensions, who will stimulate dialogue and discussion on the challenges and opportunities for academic moms. We will then solicit participation from the audience, working to identify a broad range of skills or techniques that will help junior academics benefit from these tensions and increase their success and prevalence within the field.

Pre-registration is not required for the session.

We hope to see you in Philly!

    All the best,

    Luciana & Madeline
