    Colleagues,

    I share this announcement in case  you are interested or know someone who might be. Mason has an extremely diverse student body. Although diversity among faculty and university leaders is noticeably lower, my sense is that most people are supportive. Feel free to give me a ring if you'd like to get my perspective on Mason.

    Dear Colleagues:

    The George Mason University Office of Compliance, Diversity and Ethics is seeking applications for Director of Faculty Diversity Engagement.

    This newly created director position will be critical to implementing Mason's vision to institutionalize our diversity and inclusion initiatives and become a nationally recognized leader among peer institutions for educational excellence as a diverse, inclusive and global university.

    The Director of Faculty Diversity Engagement will be responsible for creating and coordinating initiatives and programs across Mason campuses in support of faculty professional development for diversity and inclusion. The position will also play an key leadership role as Mason seeks to recruit and retain diverse faculty, design inclusive learning experiences and curricula, foster an inclusive climate for learning, explore early-entry faculty pipeline initiatives, and ultimately, support student success.

    We seek candidates who are flexible, well-organized, inquisitive, resourceful, detail-oriented, creative, ethical, and able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks in order to thrive in our busy, diverse and collaborative environment.

    A Ph.D. is required, and field of study is open. Successful candidates will have demonstrable experience in teaching, scholarship or service related to diversity and inclusion.
