  • 1.  Searching for a measure

    Hi all,

I am doing some research with supervisor/subordinate pairs who demographically differ from each other. I would like to measure as a mediator in the process I'm studying something like "interpersonal ease" (how comfortable I feel interpersonally with the other person). Another way of putting it might be psychological safety - but Amy Edmondson's measure seems much more "safety in the group" oriented. I could adapt that measure, but I thought that other folks who have researched diversity issues may have measured what I'm interested in previously and may have scale ideas for me.

I'd appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sue

    Hi Susan,

I'm attaching the page proofs of a manuscript I currently have in press at GOM, that looks at recruiter-applicant demographic similarity and the mediating effects of interpersonal attraction (this may be what you're trying to measure) and perceived similarity.  From your brief description, it sounds like it would be very relevant to what you're doing.
