  • 1.  Seeking advice for prospective grad student

    Dear GDO-List:

I am seeking your input on advice I might provide to a prospective Ph.D. student. The student is in the mid-40s, recently scored in the 94th percentile on the GMAT, and is currently enrolled in an MBA program (BS and MS were earned in the 80s).

My question is whether you know of people in the mid-40s when they began studying for the Ph.D., where they studied, what kinds of barriers they faced (and suggestions to minimize them) and where they were placed after graduation?

If you are or know of such a person who might provide some insights, please e-mail me (rather than the list) at mpbell@uta.edu.

If you know of schools that are receptive to somewhat non-traditional students, I would appreciate hearing from you as well.

Thanks so much.  Happy New Year, everyone.

    Myrtle

    Good Morning Myrtle!

I forwarded your e-mail to a colleague here at UWM who could provide this electronic (virtual) mentoring.

You are so good for helping this prospective student out!!

You have a a good heart!

    Best

    Belle

p.s.. UWM is very open to non-traditional students - but our doctoral program really emphasizes macro/strategy - so if she is into that - this could be a great fit!
