    Dear GDO-ers,

     

    An unanticipated opening has occurred in our department for a tenure track faculty member in Applied Psychology. We are able to hire using the job description below.  Therefore please distribute this broadly to people you think may be interested.   The position will be available in August, 2009 but it may be possible to extend the start date to January, 2010 (although we would need to make the hiring decision within the next two months).

    Southern Illinois University <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">CARBONDALE</st1:city></st1:place>-Psychology Department (www.psychology.siu.edu) anticipates a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology, to begin August 16, 2009.  We are seeking an applied research psychologist with interests in the application of psychological theory and research methods to real-world problems.  Preference will be given to candidates in Social-Organizational Psychology. Research specializations might include (but are not limited to): personnel legal issues in employment, occupational/organizational health, organizational behavior management, performance management, personnel psychology, or social science research methodology in organizations.  Candidates who can direct our internal consulting practicum, Applied Research Consultants, are preferred (http://www.arc.siu.edu/).  Candidates must have demonstrated ability to conduct research in applied settings and to extend basic psychological theory and research to applied problems, and must have potential for excellence in teaching and for developing an active, externally funded research program.  Candidates with consultation experience are preferred. Applicants are expected to have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree before August 16, 2009. If all requirements for the PhD have not been completed, a one-year term appointment may be offered at the rank of Instructor, at a reduced rate of pay.  Duties include research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and thesis and dissertation supervision.
